Meet Paul Dykstra
Chapel organist and collaborative musician
Paul Dykstra has been playing the organ at St. Andrew’s-by-the-Sea for the past 6 years. He enjoys being part of the St. A community, playing its pipe organ, and being responsible for lining up musical guests for each summer service. Paul also often plays for weddings at St. A’s and enjoys being part of the “special day.”
Paul’s primary instrument is the piano, and he has achieved considerable success as a concert performer, teacher, and musical collaborator in New England and in Canada. He was educated at University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and moved to NH with his wife and four daughters in 1999. Paul has a thriving studio in downtown Portsmouth teaching aspiring musicians and pianists from across the musical and age spectrum. His emphasis is on classical piano, Conservatory examinations, but also jazz, pop, and arranging. Paul is on the Piano Faculty at St. Paul’s School in Concord, a member of the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada) and the Music Development Program (US). He considers himself fortunate to know most of the prominent musicians in the area, and brings them to St. A’s every summer to round out the musical fare.
